New VP 44's have increased in price to $1500. I can't seem to find them any cheaper. This makes me lean towards purchasing a rebuilt VP44. I heard of people here getting a rebuilt vp44 for around $800. Where are you finding these. I can't seem to find a rebuilt for less then $1200...

My local Dodge dealer will sell you as many as you want for $900-as long as you want a reman and leave a core. I would check with a Cummins dealer for a comparable price.

I havn't tried a Dodge dealer yet. I figured they would be the most expensive. I'll ask tomorrow. The Cummins dealer in Houston quoted me $1225 for a rebuilt unit...

The local Dodge dealer just replaced mine under warranty last week (87,000). The list price for the reman was $900. I squawed about the reman but they would not replace with new pump. I shut up as they did not see the wire coming of the pump wire. The mechanic said that since march of 2002 the rebuilds were pretty good since they changed the material in the pump so that they lasted longer.

Already checked Piers. That is where I found the $1500 vp44's. They don't sell remanufactured pumps...

Say it ain't so... . :{ :{ :{

Pretty soon, the new VP44's will cost more than new P7100's! :{ :{

Look at it this way Terry..... You have outperformed the stock market over the past few years with your engine purchase! :D Oo. Bet you weren't thinking that when you bought it! ;)

Go to boschservice.com and look up a local dealer for the VP44. We replaced a VP44 in a 98. 5 in December and Bosch sold a new pump for $1200. The dealers vary a great deal in price so check around. The Cummins dealer wanted $1550 for a rebuilt. You also get a better warranty on a new VP44.

Check with Diesel Injection Service at 800-658-9355. Randy said they were going to start handling reman VP44's; don't know the price.
