Here is a picture of where I have mine mounted right now. . I may change it because of how I had to run the air lines... As you can see the front of the horns are right at the back of the transmission crossmember.

Once my wife seen how I had them mounted... now she wants a set of air horns for her truck. My neighbor has a set of Air Chimes that we will be putting on his 97 Peterbilt... that I wouldnt mind having for her truck. Knowing her she might get into trouble with them. .

mikel, thanks that picture would be great if you could. you guys are excellent source of ideas, thanks now i have some reasonable possibilities for where to mount them,at least two of them for now.

It's not a problem at all. This picture is of the tank with a tape measure beside it for size. The tank is approx 24x10.

Here are the brackets. There is an exhaust hanger on the passenger side that one of the brackets works with. Just pull the bolts out of the hanger and run them through the tank bracket and then back through the frame and into the hanger. The bolts are longer than they need to be for just the hanger, so there's plenty of thread left once they go through the bracket. The other bracket needs holes drilled in the frame for it to mount.

It's a tight fit, but it does all go in there. When I get time to install it I'll get another picture of the tank all mounted up.

The bracket on the right got a little tweaked last time I took it off, I need to get it bent back to where it looks pretty again.

I hope this helps you get some ideas of what can be done.

It doesn't hang down at all. Unless you look for it in front of the tire you wouldn't have any idea it's in there. Unless I blow the horn... :D

I'd have to say the bottom of the tank is at least two or three inches higher than the bottom of the fender.

The system is plumbed with 3/8" lines and fittings. The compressor is a Hadley that is suppose to supply 150 psi which should be fine if it can pump up the air tank that I have to mount on the frame.

All I need to do now is wire in the pressure switches and the mount the tank. . and heat up the compressor. Also I need to mount my air pressure gauge to the tunnel right next to my trans temp gauge.

My buddy has a set of the Air Chimes that I wanted but I could get them away from him. That is another project of helping him mount them on his 97 Peterbilt.

Being the innocent people that we are. . I know that our air horns are only used incase of an emergency. And they wont be used to frighten ladies that just might be sitting at a stop light putting on makeup. . Oh no we wouldnt do that would we... .

i dont know. nearly all them good ideas you folks gave me didnt work out so far. i might need to get creative. thank you all. please keep them ideas commin. thanks. carl

Can't believe all the horns way underneath. I'm thinking of mounting mine (when I get the time) on the underside of the hood of my 03. I think there's enough roomv over the top of the exhaust manifold if they're mounted just right of center. Anybody tried this?

yeah '' see" them alright i would like to have them some where else if you know what i mean. thats half my problem gettin the perfect location for them, where thy will fit, be some what safe and out of the nasty elements of winter.

I got a chance to get my air system installed a little while ago. Here are some pictures of how the tank is mounted.

This is from the front looking back. You can see how the tank fits nicely between the frame and fender.

I took this picture from ground level and all you can see are the two bolts that hold the straps closed. That is all that hangs any at all below the rest of the truck and that is only about 3/4" You can see that the muffler hangs lower than anything that I put on the truck.

Hope this helps give you some ideas.
