I have had a permit for quite a while and would like a fairly easy access, yet well concealed place to store my pistol. Had my last one stolen out of my center console. I also have an alarm, so looking for a place that only needs to be hidden for a few minutes. not indefinitely.

Under the dash, seat, ect.

Any ideas or experience?

No anti-gun posts please.

I wonder how hard it would be to fab up a holder for under the seat? If you don't have the power seats then there is tons of room under there. I haven't really looked to see if that space is conducive to building a pistol holder. I might have to check into that.

In my wasteband, behind my right hip. In Detroit I'll add one in the crack of the seat.

Car-jacking not allowed... :(

I keep a flair gun in door of my truck with a shell in it

get your self one a wal mart no permit needed

let some one try to car jack my truck I got something for them

If I'm not mistaken its illegal to HIDE a handgun. Its suppose to be in the glove box and if no glove box in the center console. Not under a seat or in door pockets etc. This is for the benifit of police. I have a permit and mine is in the glove box with grip towards me(driver). If I don't want to leave it in truck unattended I tote it.

Varies state to state

Ohio is the only state I know of that requires specific placement for legal CCW in a vehicle. And they require CPL holder to open carry when in a vehicle. Concealed = hidden

I toyed with a fanny pack around the console supports, too slow to draw.

peace, out

Your lucky. Geogia has pretty liberal gun laws.

Information below is found in Georgia Code 16-11-126(d)

With a Georgia or Reciprocal State's permit:

You may carry a handgun in any location in a motor vehicle.

No Georgia permit (but wouldn't be denied from obtaining one) or a permit from a non-reciprocal state(and not listed as one of the ineligible):

You can transport a loaded firearm in any private passenger motor vehicle in an open manner and fully exposed to view or in the glove compartment, console, or similar compartment of the vehicle.

Also you can also carry your firearm enclosed in a case, unloaded, and separated from its ammunition.

I use a SOB holster, most comfortable in the truck. An open shirt hides it well, and when you need to reach for it, it looks like you are reaching for your wallet. SOB=Small Of Back.

I agree, carry it with you when you can but there are certain places you can't. So it's wear it when you can and leave it in the truck when you can't or don't carry it at all. On my last truck, a GMC, I found that the seat cover on the back of the seat was velcroed across the bottom. When I got out I could peal it open, slide my pistol in and velcro it back. I dont know about the 3rd Gen seats. If no velcro there, maybe you could retro-fit some.

That all looks good but I was thinking of only about a $25 mod.

I am not talking about the gun being theft secure, just want it to take more than a few minutes to find.

My last gun was stolen out of my truck, in my driveway, before I had an alarm. Now that I have the alarm, I'll be outside pretty quick with my bedside pal. (No not my wife :-laf )

I am not allowed to carry my firearm at work, so I leave it in the truck 24/7.

One in the truck and one (actually 3) in the house.

I saw this and thought I could mod it either under the dash or maybe under that flap on the side of the seat.

Desk holster

What I had done to a truck a few years back was actually unstitched the back seat cover on the driver side on the bottom side of the seat... sewed some velcro on both sides big enough to slide my pistol in. Made it look like the seem was factory. Even when I folded up the seat you could not tell it was there. Its a great place to store a gun. Out of site out of mind. If this helps.

I have a concealed carry license. I carry a Beretta 32 Tomcat in an Uncle Mikes wallet holster in my back pocket. If there is a place I can't take it I simply don't go there.

I have seen available either comercially, or home made, a holster that mounted under the steering wheel column. Easy access for emergencies. Leaving it in the truck unattended isn't the best idea IMO.

a friend of mine has an el cheapo holster mounted under the front seat ...

it will be a while but i'll check it out and report back ...

he's had one in 1st gen ... 2nd gen ... and now third ...

I don't carry a weapon yet, but if I did and I needed to leave it some where, right uner the steering wheel, the knee bolster can be pulled away from the top and bent down. You could mount a holder there and pop it back in place when you are done. My six-gun module box is there, and unless you knew that, you would never know to look there.

Yeah, post up all your hiding places. Make the job easier for a thief.

I think that no matter where you stash it in the truck, a determined thief will find it. They are used to scrounging all the nooks and crannies looking for hidden wallets, radar detectors and the like. If you need to leave it in there, especially when at work, I would get one of the safe boxes and bolt it to the floor somewhere in the truck.

Keep in mind that if it just well hidden, and takes a couple minutes to find, by the time you get to the truck you will be facing the perp with your gun in his hand. That might make things interesting if you are at home and come out armed yourself :-laf But if you are at work when it happens and come out un-armed things could get ugly fast.

I keep my 357 in a gun rug in the drivers door map pocket. I always lock the truck. I carry my Kimber 45 on my right hip (conceled). That way, while in the truck I have access with either hand. The gun rug is an inconspicuous brown seude pouch. Doesn't look like much, packs a surprise.
