Does any one the best spot to pipe in for a boost guage ?? Mine came with a type of plastic tubing. It doesn't look sturdy, so I want to use something else. Any suggestions will be a great help.
The plastic hose is fine! The place to tap in is on the drivers side, on the side of the intake manifold that is a verical surface... you'll find a little plug screwed into a factory hole. Your kit will have a fitting that just threads in! Make sure you use plumbers tape!
I got some 1/4" fuel line about maybe 2 feet long and slid the pastic hose into it. Have it down near the manifold and injector lines to protect the pastic tubing. Otherwise I am just routing the plastic tubing like everyone else.
For good instructions http://www.dieselpage.com/gimain.htm I slip the entire small tubing though 1/4" tubing to protect from cuts and kinks also makes it easier to push though the firewall. There are some sharp edges under the dash. If your small tubing is tightly rolled put it in some hot water then pull it straight. The 1/4" outside protective tubing can be cut in sections to make it easier to push the small tube though, just tape the sections back together when you're finished. A 90° adaptor from the manifold is easier to deal with than the straight one supplied with most gauges, most hardware stores have them. Don't use Teflon tape on the adaptor fitting. The problem is if you ever have to remove the fitting it is near impossible to remove the Teflon debris, it will get sucked into your engine. Anti-seize works much better.
I used the fitting on the AFC housing where the waste gate line is hooked in. I removed the barbed hose fitting for the waste gate and installed a Tee fitting and hooked the waste gate line back up and the boost gauge line into it also.
Alright so I located the port on the side of the intake. It looks like it's in a tight spot behind the pump. I think i will have better access if I remove the Air horn. I also see a wire harness or a cable in the way. Does any one no what size that port is ??
