I have a 1998 12v that my friend said had a major fuel leak. I took it in and put on my lift running and it was totally dry.

I found a small 1/8 inch plastic line hanging near the front driveshaft but cannot find where it came from.

I followed it back to the top of the fuel tank sender, is this a vent and where does it connect on the engine??

Thanks

Tim

The only thing under there I can think of that might be 1/8" plastic are the vacuum lines for the front axle disconnect but those should stop at the top of the transfer case.

I have completely replumbed the fuel lines on two '97 trucks this winter and found nothing like that involved with the fuel system.

As you can see in the picture from Seth's truck, that's all there is when stock.

Mike. :)

I put a vacuum on the line and fuel started running out so I know this is the source of the leak but I still can't find a destination for it in the engine compartment.

I did notice that there were zip ties holding it which did not look factory.

I'll stick my head in there again & look closer at the fuel tank module.

Thanks for the photo.

Tim,

I think you are going to need to trace the line back to its origin. Your fuel line from the tank should route like this: lift pump > fuel heater > fuel filter > injection pump > return to tank. Could it be a mechanical fuel pressure guage supply or maybe the line going from the injection pump to the boost control for the AFC?
