OK, still stumped, I cannot find in a foot of books, where number one is on a VP44 pump. I pulled the lines to rebuild the pump, now I don't know where the lines go!

This is not graded a test, is is NOT cheating if you go out to your truck and peek at where number one output is on the VP44 pump. :)

And it WILL help me get mine back together. The book DOES confirm that the firing order is 153624, the same as most every 6 banger.

OK thanks lots. The pump sits at an angle, I assume you mean 6 oclock if the pump is sat upright? Maybe it don't make any difference, I am not over by it now. Now I have to look at the gears and decide which way the darn thing turns.

Hey, I just found it in the big manual!! Answered my own question, the number one is shown sitting at about 7 oclock when the pump is upright, and as you say, is 6 oclock when the pump in tilted and installed on the engine.

If I am not too tired to think correctly, looking at the front of the engine, the crank goes clockwise, the cam counterclockwise, and therefore the pump turns clockwise, then looking at the distributor end of the VE44, the numbering and rotation is Counterclockwise. Right?

As long as you havent bent any of the lines, You can put them all back on starting with #6 and work forward. Loosely screw the injector ends and route the lines. They will "fall" into place. Just dont force anything. I did this today.

Yeah, I sorta figured that would be the case, I was careful not to bend any of them, in fact I took off (and numbered) the 4, 5, and 6 lines to facilitate getting to the nuts on the other three, and to get them out of the way of the pump coming off.

I don't know if the trucks are the same, but getting the pump off and back on required removal of so many other items on the motorhome. Trying to work bent over under the raised queen sized bed is no fun at all either (but the stereo is nice to listen to, and you don't get rained on, and the central air is nice to work in on these hot days... )
