again, I need the groups help!!

after 12 years the optimas won't hold a charge for long. Where can I get the best deal? I'm on the mid peninsula, but I do work in the east bay.

Thanks in advance for your help guys!!

Check out where they are built. Talked to a guy yesterday that advised me against going that way, cause they are now done in Mexico and the quality has gone down. But its your choice, just passing along what I was told.

Probably won't help you since you need them now, but Jeg's High Performance occassionally has a great mail order price. That it where I got my last two.

MANY individuals on different forums have talked about a problem with the quality of Optima batteries after their move to Mexico. From ehat I have read, many of these complainants were solid Optima fans UNTIL the problems came up. I am NOT sure if the problems still hold true, as that was 2-3 years ago, but I went with the Diehard Platinum (a rebadged Oddyssey), manufactured in the US. It comes with a 4 year replacement PLUS a 4 year pro rated warranty. It IS expensive (219 retail) but several times a year goes on sale for 179. Just a couple months ago, I was able to pick up a couple for 154 each. They are, in most poeple's opinion, the most reliable battery, along with the actual Oddyssey batteries, made by the same company.

Deka also makes an EXCELLENT battery in the US and they are sold affordably by O'Reillys. Deka is oem supplier to CAT equipment, so that says something right there. I am still running some Dekas in a dozer that are over 10 years old, and they still test fine.

Another vote for the Diehard Platinums, like he said they are rebadged odysseys, which are some of the best batteries out there, military spec. Good warranty and easy to get, lots of Sears stores.

Is there a Costco near you? That would be the best place to get Optima Batteries. Another good source may be Sam's Club.

Found O'Reilly's w/ a $25. rebate with each batery - - Yellow tops were 149. 00 ea. less 25. 00 - - happy with the deal

I was always happy with Optimas. However I found myself pinched for time many years back and grabbed a set of Walmart batteries for a quick replacement. Surprisingly they have been great. YMMV
