Hey guys, putting on a new exhaust and running into some issues. Where is the factory cat location on a crew cab short bed 4wd truck?
Mine is under the passenger rear door and that seems really far back. The fact that none of the cat back exhaust stuff is lining up would tend to agree with that statement.

I've heard conflicting things about it being under the front and rear door on a crew cab so any help is appreciated. Again, this is for a 2006 truck, not an early third gen. Photos and measurements are appreciated! thanks!

Right behind the transmission cross member where ever that is located on any truck.

last time I saw mine it was in the back of a russian's pickup truck bed going to sacramento. 50 bucks in my pocket and no more cat.

Maybe I'm wrong, but my '05 and I think all '06s had a catalytic converter and no diesel particulate filter. I know my '05 does not have a particulate filter.

diesel trucks don't use catalytic converters only gasoline engines have them. I guess the best term to use is its called a soot trap. Either way its useless. I stand by what I said before just cut it out and replace exhaust with a turbo back kit. I have a turbo back MBRP exhaust system that really lets this engine breath and sounds great. Hope this helps!

All Cummins 5.9L powered Ram trucks were equipped with a Catalytic Converter beginning with January 2004 built trucks often referred to here as a 2004.5 or '04.5. All 6.7L Cummins powered trucks were equipped with both a Catalytic Converter and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) beginning with January 2007 built trucks trucks referred to as 2007.5 or '07.5. These are nondebatable facts of Ram truck production history.

You are incorrect. 04.5-07 have a catalytic converter. 07.5 added Diesel Particle filter in addition to the cat.
