How do you keep the ball joint from spinning?

Gripe Sheet

I good friend bought a 2001 3500 DRW from a dealer in Texas. had it shipped in on a transport. Went to register it and there is no VIN plate on the dash. Carfax'ed the one on the door, and it shows MORE mileage on 8/31/2005 than it has now. I believe there is a VIN stamped on the frame. Anyone know where ?? Dealer is real uncooperative. Claims that the plate was there when it left his place.

Thanks

Found it on the bottom of the frame, passenger side, midway.

It is different than the door. .

Let the fun begin !!!

No wonder the dealer is being a di** head about this. He knows he is about to get his butt in hot water. :) :-laf

Good Luck!

With all the floods around the country we will be seeing resurected salvage vehecles for quite some time. I had 1 show up at the shop 2 weeks ago that was cleaned up pretty good on the surface but when I pulled out a couple of screw in the dash, silt started to fall out everywhere under the dash. It will be very risky buying any used vehicles from that part of the country. :(

On a 2001 there is a VIN badge on the dash board but if the windshield was replaced and the proper year windshield wasn't installed it will be very hard to see because it will be under a darkend area. It's hard to explain but when I bought my truck I couldn't see it because it had the wrong windshield now it has the right one. The tag should be about a foot maybe from the drivers side pillar right at the bottom looking from the outside.

Keep us informed as to what happens, this sounds interesting. Like paychk said, you can get the mileage from the computer but the dealer can reset that I believe.

My guess is the dealer will be getting a visit from the feds soon as tampering or knowingly taking possession of such is a federal offense... hope they get it fixed for you and your not out anything.
