Greetings...

Where can I find the CAN bus connector? "Triangular in shape, near the power steering pump - according to BANKS lousy installation instructions for their Big Hoss ECM"

Is there anywhere I can see a picture of where this thing is??

I've done multiple unsuccessful searches on the forum with no results.

(Must be operator error. )

I've just spent about a half hour tearing apart some other connector - nope not it. Following lines by feel... can't see sH***T! #@$%!

Any help pictorial or verbal, maybe a GPS coordinate??? would be appreciated

Thanks!

Signed Bleeding and FUMING under the hood, #@$%!

If this plug your looking for is the one I am thinking it is gray in color with a reddish rubber insert to keep the dirt out. It is hidden quite well in the wiring loom on the drivers side of the vacuum pump. Might be able to find it easier from under the truck. Diesel Dynamics refers to it as a Data plug and is triangular in shape. It will be between the radiator and the rear most part of the vacuum pump.

Sorry for the late reply, guys. I was out driving my truck trying to determine if the new Boss Hoss ECM unit made any difference. Took a lot of driving to find out... I'm not sure.

Thank you both for your help, tho.

After throwing a few more tools under the truck in a fit of rage, one of them landed directly underneath the dangling little gray unit (just as Dave described!) behind what I now understand is the vacuum pump? ( I didn't even KNOW I HAD central vacuuming on this rig!) :--) OK. Little bit of sarcasm there. The wiring harness, various connections and under dash installation actually were all installed correctly (eventually) and worked! No thanks to the BANKS installation manual writers.

It just doesn't seem like there's very much of a difference in the performance.

But I'm still looking into that. Also plan on e-mailing the installlation documentation folks at BANKS a few suggestions on how they might improve those booklets :-{} ... I'm in the business... technical illustrator by trade.

Thanks again, guys. It's good to know that TDR is always there for us!
