Howdy all,

After talking with/emailing a few of the higher HP/Torque TDR members, I have decided to go with the McLeod dual disc clutch for my truck. I have asked Nowel [HVAC] about ordering one for me, and he suggested that I do some checking myself on price, and he would see if he could be competitive.

Where can I get pricing on this clutch?

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, here's the place to go... http://www.jvdeng. ws/www-jvdeng-ws/about.htm

I did the same that you are doing now. Spoke with Nowel, spoke with McLeod, who sent me to JVD. They are great folks to deal with, Patti and Van. They also test each McLeod, before it ships. Don't buy direct from McLeod, you will save mucho $$$ from JVD.

I don't recall the exact number but I think I paid $1300 with shipping from JVD. The thing weighs in at about 100 lbs. #ad
with the flywheel. Huge, anyone ?!

Thanks guys,

When I was looking at the Enterprise Engine web site, they list 3 different versions of the McLeod dual disc clutch. A "normal" version, a "pulling" version and a "streetable" version. I sent them an email asking to explain the differences, but haven't heard back as yet.

Can any of you shed a little light here for me? I would guess the pulling version is the beefiest, but I really want to know specifics. Aside from cost, which would really be the best version for daily driving? I don't ever plan to do any sled pulling, and very little, if any drag racing. I don't know for sure how much HP/torque I will end up at, it'll be a SOTP measurement, but I would guess between 400 - 500 HP #ad

Thanks,
Tom

Hey Tom are you dead set on a Mcleod? You might want to give Peter at Southbend clutch a call there are some advantages to other clutches that the Mcleod can't give you. Here is his # he has a great clutch for the ETH. 800-988-4345

Tom, my best advice that I can give is to call JVD tomorrow and ask away. They actually have McLeod ship them the parts and assemble each before they ship. As to 3 versions for the ETH, I was only aware of 2, the dual disk street and the puller. From my conversation with JVD, the puller is not what you want for a daily driver. I think the dual disk street is more than you will ever need for that ETH. Don't bother with e-mail, give them a call and ask away, you won't be disappointed with their service and knowledge. Also, like BPINE stated, why not check out the Southbend as well, cover all your bases before you decide upon such an important upgrade. Just be sure to call JVD before making a decision.

Summit has them for $1146. Shipping inc. But I don't have a specific part number for the ETH's. Also, are you sure you want McLeod? Have you driven a McLeod? There are some drivability issues with the clutch. I don't think they are that bad, but you may want to test drive some rigs before you decide. I'd volunteer, but you are too far away. Just a note I thought I'd add.

Is there anyone with a McLeod in the central Texas area? I would like to go for a ride in a truck with a McLeod before I fork over that much cash too.
