Well, after 73,000 miles of big tire driving (35's to 38's) it's time to replace the tie rod ends and drag link. Where is a good place to buy them?

Either Napa or Carquest-both sell Moog and have lifttime warranty. Get moog it is the best. You might want to look into the crossover steering setup at thurenfabrication.com under products. I have not put it on my truck but after talking to the owner of thuren fab for 30 minutes and looking at the reviews on pavementsucks.com, it looks like it will tighten up the steering 1000%. Plus it will last much longer! I'm looking to put that on my truck really soon!

NAPA in my area no longer carries Moog parts. They now only carry DANA parts. I have been looking for new tie rod ends that are greaseable and have not been able to find them.

Guys where does the steering stabilizer shock go, on the product that had the link above from ebottema?

Looks very interesting.

you dont really need it, but you could have Don weld on a bracket or buy a bolt on bracket for the tierod if you really wana keep it.

According to Don you don't need a stabilizer and thats what the owners of the trucks that have it say. It makes the steering tight!.

Don's design looks awsome! I talked to him and he is a great guy. The only problem I see with the system is you must drill out the steering knuckles and pitman arm to install the kit. Its a problem if you ever want to change but IMO drilling will make it stonger. I would like to see two kits, one that you can drill out for big lifted trucks and a more mild no drilling kit for stocker trucks.

Trust me, Don is working his butt off for us. I let him know about the stock height track-bar need, and he is trying his best to come up with a complete replacement system that keeps you from having to use any OEM expensive crap. Also, I have talked to Don quite abit about the track-bar and the steering replacement parts, I am 100% sold on the TB replacement... I too am still on the fence about the steering upgrade. I am just worried about the hiems and Minnesota winter salt. But He is more and more convincing on this setup. and the few guys online that I know have his stuff love it. I have been up and down with many on the hiems vrs TREs debates, everyone has a point on both sides... . but nothing pushes me either way. Some say the TRE will last longer due to the "greasable" factor, but yet our TREs are NON-GREASABLE anyway. Other say the TRE is going to wear out faster than the HIEM Don uses, so why not go with the hiem. All parts wear out, its part of the game, I guess it just depends on which part you decided on that factors what part you will be replacing even farther down the road.

The drilling out the nuckles for most of the "1-ton" or "HD" steering systems doesnt bother me all that much... its just doing it I guess... kinda like "bombing" the ol' girl, the first time you modify your new 36k dollar truck you are a bit hesitant, the next time its no big deal and you are actually excited to do it.
