Hi, I dont normally frequent this forum, as I have a 92, and have owned 1st gens for a long time, but I put a 99 Dana80 axle under my 92, and was wondering where the Bill of Materials tag was on these newer axles- it isnt on the diff cover secured between 2 bolts like on my other, older trucks. Is it supposed to be there or is there somewhere else I need to look?

Also, I have 3. 54 gears. Can I put a 3. 31 Ring and pinion on the same carrier, or do I need a different one? (3. 54 ratio was determined by crawling under it, with the rear off the ground, and turning both tires one full circle, while keeping an eye on hoe many times the yoke turned. )

Thanks,

Daniel

If the tag is gone, the BOM is stamped into the right hand axle tube, usually about 3" outboard of the center section. Wire brushing the housing with a drill or angle grinder may be required.
