Hi folks, I'm in the middle of a gear swap and the front wheel hub assemblies are frozen to the front end. After tons of penetrating fluid and a big hammer, there still frozen... The shop ther're in says they can heat them up and get them off but they will be no good after that.

QUESTION:::::: Where do I find sealed wheel hub assemblies for a Dana 60 front end cheaper than the dealer price of $390 :--) each??

I think you just need to try a little harder. ;)

I used a big freakin puller on the front of the hub. I'd put some pressure on the puller. Not too much, because I didn't want to separate the bearing.

Then, loosened the 4, 12 point bolts on the back of the knuckle.

I put a socket and extension over the bolts and did one of two things...

You can beat on the end of the extension with a BFH, or prop the extension against something on the frame or axle, start the truck, and turn the wheel to use the power steering to press off the hub.

I'd work a little from the front, and then a little from the back alternating between putting a little pressure on the puller, and beating or pressing on the 4 bolts. It took a good three hours to get the hub loose.

Now, it has about 3 gallons of antiseize on it for next time. Oh, and I bent one of the 4, 12point bolts. I just tightened it up and ran with it, but you may want to be prepared with some extras.

Also, the dealer is the only place I could find when I was looking.
