where to find ignition on hot source

What are you trying to power? I assume you are looking for 12 volt source that is controlled by the ignition key. Does this circut need to on with the key in the acc. position? If you have plans of adding more circuts in the future you might want to consider adding an accessory harness like can be found here http://www.genosgarage.com/CoastalData/showdetl.cfm?&DID=30&Product_ID=179&CATID=1

yes but i still need some place to pick a hot off of when the key is turned on

I pulled the center dash(easy after removing the trash bag holder screw) and tapped the cigar lighter positive wire to "trigger" the relay in my Painless Wiring Harness. The accessories are on in either the ACC position or the ON position of the ignition switch.

T/U found that a little while ago. any trick to get the dash off?

Remove the screw where the trash bag hook is located and gently pry out by hand on the plastic bezel and it will pop loose. Be careful not to scratch the ash tray and the drink holder(if your truck is an automatic) with the loose plastic bezel that wil be hanging by the wires. When you get the connection made, line up the plastic bezel and pop it back in.

Ah, if only I had received this advice before I started tearing into my dash... my storage bin might not have those ugly scratches on it.
