a buddy gave me a set of post 2000 alloy wheels with almost new michelin LTXs on them but they wont fit on my 98. i figured i could run the 16s while i save for a set of 19. 5" tires. unfortunately i have a 98 and am unwilling to modify my drums.

anyone know where i can decently priced (low as possible) 19. 5' toyo or michelin tires (m+s rated) in the san francisco bay area? any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance... ... p. s. anyone wanna buy a set of wheels?

try Costco... may have to look in the special order book in the tire shop. .

America Tires is another good price place... BUT COMPAIR BEFORE BUYING. . ... . look at the total price including mount balance and road hazzard. . ect ect

2nd Costco. Still not cheap though. Lowest price I've seen on 16'' Michelins was $108/ea, 19. 5s would be more. Since at that price you're more than half way to the tires you really want why not just spring or wait?

thanks gary

thanks, gary

i remember asking you a long time ago, but these tires are like the energizer bunny!!

i checked my local costco and they looked at the book and couldn't find anything. didn't speak to the tire manager. maybe i'll do that tomorrow.

called america's tire co. they quoted me $270 for michelin XZE 225 70s with another $40 per tire for warranties (road hazard etc. ) yikes.

anybody have any other ideas or sources let me know. so much for 22. 5s being on my wish list!!!

I have been wrong before also... this isn't an odd ball size. . hummmm it is a trailer size... double check with them for shucks and grins. . seams some locations have them on the sales floor. . again I have been wrong before, just ask my Ex... lol

no luck yet

apparently the only 19. 5 tire costco can get in michelin is the XRV not mud and snow rated, but for the unbelievable price of $188 mounted with all warranties each. this is so inexpensive that i may go with these and get a 16in set for dirt and snow. however i'd really rather only have one set of wheels.

willyslover... . know any cages i can rattle at costco? they say since it won't come up on the computer they can't order it. i'm going to try the costco website now...

like i said. . I may be wrong. . LOL all the locations use the same computer info. . and it's a workstation so no updates local...

so I was wrong. . but the 19. 5 I remembered is what you forund so only 1/2 wrong hehe...

so here is the thing... go to the Wharehouse Mgr and ask for the home phone # [don't tell them why]... then call the # and when the computer operator answeres. . dial 0. . ask the living breathing operator for the tire buyer. . then ask the buyer for a special order for you, and what location you shop at... [they do not like the locations giving out the buyers # as they are very busy that is why I said not to tell them why]. . or you can get the main # off the site I think...

if you can get nowhere. . let me know... . I have a friend or two LOL

BTW I'll be gone tomorrow am for the weekend. . then MM I'll be going there soon

we won't give up LOL . . just hope your not on threads

hmmmmmm, devious, but i like it. i might also tell the the tire buyer that my wife and i spend approx. $7-800 at Costco every 4-6 weeks for her work. so maybe we should get a special purchase.

i'll let you know how it goes!! enjoy your weekend.

no don't do that... . that will not get you anywhere...

special orders are very tuff in the Costco world. . they move massine amount of goods and a special orders actually cost them profits [time = money and the margins are very low going in] cause someone does manual work to make it happpen... most of the stuff is done via 'puter nowdays... if it is not set up in the order system [which SO tires in the book are] then someone is involved in a manual effort... not saying every customer isn't important but their system is so streamlined to reduce the human hands everywhere and thats why the prices are what they are... also why the selection is so limited..... geeee what am I doing. . business 101 ala Costco... LOL just kidding

what if i yell, throw myself on the ground and thrash my arms and legs until i am red in the face? seems to work for 6 year olds in toys r us

i'll try your approach tomorrow and see where it gets me.

thanks for your help and your hints.

19. 5" are a common commercial truck tire. I would look for a truck tire shop like Henderson/Cummins. You might want to call Dan at Rickson Trucks and see if he has any buddies here on the west coast.
