Plumbing for second trans. cooler

Anyone heard of these "jammer" injectors?

To increase cooling capacity for my 6 spd, I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for an electric or belt driven pump that could pump the oil in our 6 spds. It only 30wt so it isn't to thick. I thought if I could find a 12v unit and a small transmission cooler, I could tunr it on when needed. My trans has gotten as high as 225* and that's when I gear down. That was pulling my 14k lb 5er 70mph in 95* heat. What ya'll think?

another idea...

how about running a cooling system loop through a fast cooler on the side. in the winter, it would help it warm up real quick, and in the summer, it would keep the temps under 200° pretty much... ?

Weircummin, I know it says good for oil but the max temp rating was 185*, I was hoping for some kind of small gear pump. That one looks like the water pump in my 5er

If you can find a copy of "Circle Track" or other magazines relating to racing, you can find ads for vendors who handle pumps & coolers for transmissions & axles. Most "stock cars" have axle cooler setups with the pump mounted by and belt-driven from the pinion yoke- dunno why you couldn't mount the pump by & drive it off of the trans tailshaft.

Tman,

My trans has gotten as high as 225* and that's when I gear down.

yes, by Grainger and Shurflo's site it states temp to 185*

Now if you were to install a good sized cooler and use a temperature switch @ lets say 180* on the trans. I doubt you would exceed it's temp rating. The only reason you see temps that high is because there is no heat transfer from the trans. well, with the exception of convection transfer and minimal airflow across the case.

We use a couple of these pumps @ work for fuel (diesel) transfer and they seem to work out well. Operating for up to 2 hrs. @ a time.

That one looks like the water pump in my 5er

Your right, the same company and the same pump design used in water injection systems.

The worst that could happen is that the pump quits and your out a little over C note, you'll already have the cooler and lines in place and you will have to find a different pump.
