I've been a member here for a while but having trouble understanding the nuances and potential consequences of owning a 6. 7l Cummins.

Love my current truck but the load I want to trailer is 13k and just a little over the tow rating for my truck. I generally play by the rules so as not to be explaining why I broke them in court later.

I realize the 6. 7 l gets significantly lower mileage than what I get now. Currently around town on a stock 5. 9 with 285 tires I get 15. 5 mpg and about 19 on the highway. I'm not thrilled about lower mileage but mainly I want reliability sooooo... ... . What is the deal with EGR and the DPF???

In addition to infrequent towing my truck is a daily driver. . 17 mi one way with a mix of speeds from 25 mph to 55 mph and some idling. I just like driving my truck.

Sorry to bother you guys and I have done some searching but want to make sure I really understand these newer trucks before I sell mine. .

Thank you,

Ben
