Biodiesel Retail Locations

Hey, where are you all getting the WVO? Which restaurants are best to call?

I am getting ready to order from Beachbio, I just want to make sure I have steady supply of oil.

Thanks

I'm no expert, but I believe veggie is better.

Even within the veggie oil, there are better veg oils, and lesser quality.

Example, peanut oil isnt very desireable. Sure it can be made into fuel, but I'm told it will begin to gell around 50 degrees.

Looking For Oil

Hello

The oil from Chinese restaurants is not the the best you can get it will be the place you can get a lot of oil it will be burned and very used.

the oil that we all need is a trans fat free oil. not only for health reasons but for gelling issues.

canola is the oil that makes the best power but its hard to find the price is high. soy oil is what I find a lot of of its a cheap oil so thats what most places use.

My better oil supply comes from a high end restaurant they change the oil twice a week and they were using a canola / corn blend and now they changed to a cottonseed / canola blend . this will be next weeks oil and it looks like its a thinner oil than the canola/corn blend.

one other place that will give you great oil is wendy's hambuger the oil they use system wide is a zero trans fat corn/canola blend the oil is filtered and is only used for a day or so. then when they change the oil it has to be filtered before its dumped in the waste bin.

IN and OUT uses cottonseed oil for frying this would be a great oil to get its thin and it gets changed all the time

Arbys might be using the right oil but I have not found out for sure.

Mcdonalds is in the change over mode it dependes on where you live on what oil is used at this time.

Taco bell has the right oil

Buger King does not the last time I looked.

Hardies,?

Jack in the box ?

Dell taco ?

KFC ?

look for non-hydrogenated oil (zero trans fat) and by the way if its has any hydrogenated oil in it its not zero trans fat oil.

I dont care what the FDA says.

I was told that after the semi- hydrogenated oil is used it will break and the top oil is non hydrogenated and the bottom oil is hydrogenated but I have not tryed this yet. I have around 300 gallons to try this summer and it is white on the bottom of the tank and clear oil on the top.

hope this helps

its out there you just need to find it.

Good luck

CJ the problem is from I have read that getting oil from chain restaurants is generally hard since it is usually contracted out, and that contractor may have 30 restaurants to pick up from. I would try a local place that you buy coffee from every day. YMMV

If you have a high quality kit (read as "runs hotter") then it technically shouldn't make a difference what type of oil it is.

The trick to runner patrially hydrogenated oil is the temperature. If you look at the major kits Frybrid, Greasecar, Greasel. You find that the Frybrid probably runs the "hottest" meaning the "closest to coolant temperature".

Also avoid spainish restaurants in poor areas, they use their oil until it is black and really unfilterable.

What do the haulers do with it?

I would think the restaurants are required to keep & show proper disposal methods so just handing it over to anyone that wants it would not be so easy. . is it?

The VP44 uses fuel as coolant. how does it fare with heated oil for fuel??

It does just fine. The lubricity is a bigger factor than the temperature. Just make sure it has a good steady supply at all times. If know of someone who has more than 110,000 miles on WVO in a VP truck.

Thanks to all... I just happen to talk to Wendy's tonight. They seem to use a good bit and turn it over often. I am hoping they will let me pick up.

I thought Peanut oil was a better option if we could find it. It is suppose to have higher power output similar to Canola oil. :)

My niebor uses penut oil for deepfrying, keeps the un used stuff in his garage. It is about 45 degrees outside right now and that stuff looks like solid lard right now...

The chains pay to have it picked up. My buddy worked a deal with a local Mcdonalds that he would take it for free. The problem was they were going through like 90-100 gallons a week and my buddy couldn't keep up. One time I went with him to help load it up, he must of been a few days behind because when we got there all the normal 55 gal drums were full and they had used anything they could find to pour it in mop buckets, etc. It wasn't pretty. My buddy lost his source not to long after. :{
