Had to order a new exhaust manifold to swing the turbo down due to clearance concerns on the passengers side. I was planning to install an EGT pyrometer on this rig and I know its a common practice to install the probe in the exhaust dump for the last three cylinders, but this is my query: The exhaust dumps on the original manifold were a "3+3" configuration, whereas the ones on the new manifold are a "4+2" configuration. Should I install the probe in line to monitor the rear two cylinders or the front four? What do you fellas think is better?

Don, from what I have read, the front (#1) cylinder is the hottest because of airflow within the intake manifold. By placing the pyrometer in the exhaust to monitor the front cylinders, you will potentially keep the front cylinder out of trouble as far as EGT goes. HTH
