I'm looking for a place to mount a toggle switch in the dash for a aux. fuel tank. I don't see a place. I first tried to put it just right of the steering wheel... too tight. Not enough depth. The only place I see is on the removable panel directly under the wheel. I rather have it in a stationary place.

Any ideas? Experience?

I mounted a couple of switches for my on-board air system in the two unused switch blanks in the center panel (Laramie only - SLT's have the cubbyhole here). Lower the cupholder and the ashtray, remove the one screw from above the grocery bag hook (Geez... is this really a truck? Cupholders, grocery hooks... yeesh :) and pry the panel off. Disconnect the electrical connectors (careful that the spring clips don't scratch anything up while doing this - this is why you lower the ashtray and cupholder doors), take the panel to your workbench, and install your switch. I put my wiring in with some Molex connectors from Radio Shack, which let me disconnect the wiring from the panel, allowing for easy removal.

toggle

I wired right to the power control box that way the ignition has to be turn on or the auxiliary pump will not work

Two other good locations-Feel for the depression in front of the e-brake-I have a low profile switch there for air horns to either work with the factory horns or not. You cannot see the switch without sticking your head down there. Other location was inside the ash tray-two toggle switches one spare and another that will turn on PIAA driving lights when high beams are activated. :D

How did you get the driving lights to come on with the highbeams? I tapped into the highbeam wire ,used a relay and caused problems.

Are there switches that are similar to the heated seat switches that a person could use in the blank spaces ?

GOOD QUESTION! I would be interested to know this as well. Maybe the blanks could somehow be "made" into switches?

I have checked with the dealer, and nothin!! I have looked on the internet, and nothin so far.

Autozone has some nice illuminated rocker switches that go into a round hole. They have a little LED light in them and look like they're quality.

I run the little switches from Autozone for all my add ons. They are really nice with your choice of red/green/blue light. I mounted mine in a row (4) up the guage pillar pod between the top guage and the roof. It looks really neat and was easy to wire. They all go to relays under the hood controlling Hadley Air Horns, Driving Lights on the front bumper and fog lights around the Roof Rack.

I have also tapped into the headlight harness. I chose the parking light feed and ran it to a relay. This brings the Hella Foglights on in the bumper. They are on with parking, low, or high beams... I never have to turn them on or off. I tried some LED's in the taillights... . that did not work at all. . truck hated it no matter how I tried to sneak them in there... CJ

Those really nice Carling switches fit perfectly in the cubby under the HVAC controls in my SLT. You need to get the matching housings that hold the switch but they fit nicely as far as height. You would need to do some custom faceplate creation.
