where to mount goose neck hitch ?

Friend wants to know where to mount hidaway hitch in his 8' bed. Over the axle or how many inchs foreward of axle ? It's a newer extended cab 4x4 single wheel. Trailer is big flatbed machinery hauler, at least 24' or more.

The normal range is from over axle to 6" forward. 3-4" is probably best.

I put mine at 1". I figure there's enough weight up front with a Cummins!
