This afternoon, my daughter yells for me to come quick. I run in and she point to the street where a squirrel has stolen one of my neighbors flags and is heading to a tree. The neighbor is a a real SOB and he has these flags stuck in various places around the yard. They are dirty from flapping on the ground and the whole flag thing is disgusting because I'm in the military and hate to see the flag abused this way.
Anyway, the squirrel takes the flag up the tree to a big knot hole and then tries to take it inside but the wooden dowel it's mounted on is sideways and won't go through the hole. Now, the loose end of the flag is pulled inside the hole and the dowel is tight against the tree. All I can see is the stars. I guess he'll sleep warm tonight with his new blanket/door system.
As for the neighbor, I guess he'll accuse me of removing his flags. At least now I know where they are going when they disappear.
