brakes/"generation"/good or bad?

Hey guys, where was your truck built, the U. S. or Mexico?

If your VIN starts with a 1, it was built in the U. S.

If your VIN starts with a 3, it was built in Mexico.

Mine was built in the USofA. Not that it makes a difference. I have seen great trucks from both, and bad ones from both. What kind of day did the workers have yesterday and what kind of night did they have? I would say that makes more difference.

I would have been just as happy if mine was built in Mexico.

our 96 thru 98's all came from mexico. our 2001. 5's came from st louis. the workmanship on all of the trucks seems to be equal. no bad experiences as far as rattles, leaks ect. but i do think that the paint jobs on the american made trucks is going to cause alot of problems in the future. im seeing them after about six months and posted about it . [regarding the 3500's] and something isnt right about the matching of the metal vs composite parts. this will probably be one of those "silent recalls" that you only hear about if we all compare notes . if you havent noticed yet, look again. take advantage of your bumper to bumper warranty before you find yourself with a dually with a finish that looks like it came to you from china, with eight months on the boat. :rolleyes:

Evan you missed one. Both my trucks were manufactored in Winsor, Ontario and were built for the US market.

Evan, with a 2, but my understanding from a thread here about a year ago was that some numbers further down the line indicated were the truck was made.

illflem, the first number of the VIN is the country in which the vehicle was built (assembled).

1 = USA

2 = Canada

3 = Mexico

I have never heard of Dodge Rams being produced in Canada.

My '98. 5 QC 24v 4x4 LWB Sport was built in the St. Louis North plant (as were ALL '98. 5 QC 24v Rams ).

Heh Heh

In Mexico, on Wednesday in April of 2000. I think it was the 17th. We met on the 14th of June and went home together on the 16th of June in 2000.

Mine's Canadian, but I don't hold that against her, eh?
