I currently own a 2001 2500 v-10 which I will be trading for a 2002 3500 quad cab 4x4 eth at the end of summer. The only thing I don't get is that my truck has 6 springs total and the new 3500's only have 5 counting the overloads. My truck was built in March of 2000, when did they change it? I feel like I'm getting ripped off here.

I think it was August/2000 when I noticed that DC started switching over to the 1 leaf overload. I did notice that there were 2001. 5's with both kinds of overloads when they came out.

One spring does not mean worse or less. Look at any big truck (bigger then ours) with leaf spring suspension. They have 3 - 5 total leaves but each is massive. Same with todays pickups vs trucks from the 20 years ago.

We have several 2001 2500 with camper packages. They carry loads better then any previous Ram we have. Yet have a very nice ride empty

My 2001. 5 with 1 overload dose better than my 99 with 2 overloads. They can have the trim and illuminated vanity mirrors for my 4 discs.
