Hello to all, I am currently in the market for a 50 BMG and have narrowed it doewn to the Barrett M99 single or the LAR Grizzly 50 single. Anybody have extensive time with either? i have fired both and liked then equally (for diferent reasons) Any input?

If you haven't already checked out this site

do so.

There is a lot of good info there. The Barrett seems to be a higher quality item from what I have read, but then again I have never shot either of the rifels you mentioned. :D

I have an Armalite AR50. www.armalite.com It is very well made weapon that is single load, single shot, bolt action. It has a great muzzle brake that cuts the kick down considerably. I have fired a Barret 99 and a Big shot and the AR50 definatley has less kick. Barrett makes a great rifle, probably the best . 50 you can buy, but you pay alot for the name. Accuracy International is another great rifle, again, very expensive.

I paid $2,600 for my AR50 with the weaver rail and a case. There have been alot of great reviews on this rifle too. I was going to go with Barrett but could not justify the extra money. Check out the Armailite if you have not already.

Serbu makes a nice looking rifle. Mag fed too. If you go to their site, they have an awesome video of the prototype being shot.

Barrett makes a nice rifle. I'd like the 82 A1 with the Leupold scope, as long as it's not my $$$$. I'd sacrifice repeatability at the expence of some accuracy.

Thanks for the response guys. i visited the FCSA site and it had a lot of good info. Now the Armalite is in the running. Although i have not fired it, I did read some good reviews. Tough decisions.

has anyone had any reload time on the . 450 Marlin? I've accumulated about 200 cases now and am working up some loads. Not much data out there yet.

Just another opinion, but I would go with a . 50 cal from McMillan, if I were looking for a single shot. I would buy the Barrett if I was looking for a semi-auto. I have heard the McMillan is more accurate than the Barrett. The McMillan/McBros website is; www.mcmfamily.com
