Which alternator was in the 2001. 5 2500's. I'm trying to figure out how to tell what i have in my truck. Bosch or Nippondenso?

Thanks for any info.

My 2001. 5 has a Bosch... part number 124-525-005.

But even if you currently have a Bosch, Nippondenso makes a direct replacement.

This listing for a Nippondenso alternator on eBay indicates it's a direct replacement for the above Bosch part number. It looks correct.

Alternator

It can be either. If you still have the stickers on, one should say. If not, it easy to check. Pull the back cover off. Take the battery wire and the connector off. There are 3 screws and a fourth that holds a ground strap to one of the others. Loosen the nut where the battery wire goes and pull the plastic boot out. Then the cover pulls right off. Look at the brushes. The Denso is a round ring and the Bosch is a flat plate. There are pics on page 15 of Geno's catalog. I had to go through this a couple weeks ago when the bearing went on mine. It had been replaced once and is the Denso.
