12v or 24v that is the question?

cummins into 1983 chevy crew cab

I would like to run a one wire alternator so I do not need to use the computer. The motor is a 1995 12-v CTD. I tried the one copterdoc recommended, but the pulley is not even close to lining up. I was curious if anybody had a solution?

You can use the stock alternator by simply adding a voltage regulator from an earlier Dodge (three wire triangular shaped plug). I did it on my con and it has worked well for over two years now. Also did it when I wired my bud's GMC/CTD conversion, for some reason, he has a "pulse" in his lights at idle. I don't recall the exact wiring, but it is simply.

This diagram is for a gasser, but it works the same for your application. Go to a junkyard and grab a voltage regulator and connector off just about any 70-80's Dodge and it should, in my experience, work for you.
