Lets start another discussion/controversy/argument!

Which box is preferred---Power Edge EZ or TTPM?

NO OTHER ENGINE MODS WILL BE DONE

RClark TTPM Here

Can't say its worth a whole bunch of arguing on my part since more power is always nice LOL

I like the TTPM because it is a milder box than some of the other more agressive ones out there or so I have been told by other here on the TDR. Diesel Dynamics ALWAYS answers my e-mail questions quickly and are close to where I live if I ever need them. Good customer service counts you know :)

I do however run my TTPM in the timing only position for now because my automatic transmission won't hold the power of the mighty Cummins in overdrive.

:) The Edge Comp is a nice box also, because you can turn it off or on as needed and it has 5 levels of selection with a sub 5 levels within each of the top levels for when you want the fuel to turn on. Just depends on what you like. Bought mine strait from Edge. Arron's provided me with excellent service when I was down at their shop. :D

I think (there I go again!) the TTPM is a re-badged Edge box. I read that here on the forum.

I would like some specs as to how much timing/fuel is changed just for comparison, though I bought a TTPM last month.

DDTTM

Info that I got from DD (confirmed by someone at Edge) their box has a few degrees less total advance than the Edge box and the DD box has a timing only option, which the EZ does not. ;) Both box's add the same amount of fuel but at different boost levels.

At least that's the story I got.

Thanks Ram4Sam, that's good to know. I don't know why, I was just curious.

I like the TTPM's middle setting, extra fuel above 20#'s of boost. With it's built in boost module I can set it to only feed extra fuel when I really bury the throttle.

Thats why I like the EZ Comp. You can turn it off and not worry about constantly over-taxing the pump. I run with just my 275 injectors most of the time and if I need extra power for manuvering on the freeway I can turn it on. Turn it off and the truck is stock. Best of both for my money. I like the idea of being able to turn it off and using it, only when needed. The setup I have makes the truck very enjoyable in a prudent responsible way.

This thread has triggered another question.

What is gained by just having the timing advanced without the fuel?

The more replys i see the confuseder I get

What 85CJ Said

Run my TTPM box on the timing only position for two reasons.

1. Transmission won't hold the extra 50 horsepower without doing some extra stuff to it and thats a low priority this winter.

2. Better mileage and lower Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT). I am guessing here because of so many variables involved in towing a 5th wheel but about 1+ extra mile per gallon. Not enough towing mileage yet to make any hard and fast statements though.

Average EGT has dropped at LEAST 50 degrees. On the last tow this fall I never saw over 1150 degrees. Before installing the TTPM I would frequently see 1200-1300 degrees. Box does exactly what is says it should.

Make sure you tell Diesel Dynamics you are a TDR member and save your self some bucks [$].
