It seems like there are only 3 companies making braided stainless replacement brake-line kits for our trucks. These would be ERG, Goodridge, and Russell.

Has anyone had the chance to examine all of these ?

I am wondering how the quality compares , and if there is a difference in them that would warrant the price on some being double what it is on others.

Thanks

I just installed a set of EGR's. I couldn't find anyone else that made them. Russell doesn't actually make a set for our trucks but some catalogs might have a listing. They never got around to it and are waiting for the "market to develop".

I had a front line FAIL 3 weeks ago, I almost ran over the BIMBO in the Toyota that tried to merge into the lane with me while looking for something on the passenger seat. I blew the horn for several seconds and she never reacted. If it wasn't a little before 7 AM I would have called the cops to report a drunk driver.

The EGR's are a very good quality set but they are a little pricey compared to the other aftermarket lines for other vehicals. They added springs to protect the lines in every place it could possibly rub. I was thinking that the "you get what you pay for" seemed to apply and these are an important piece. No brakes = no fun.

The fitting on the rear and I didn't get along well, the steel line from the front was a little resistant to the stretch that it needed in order to reach the new connector. I did notice a slight pedal feel improvement but it may have just been the elimination of some air or something.

Russell discontinued the brakelines lines for the ram. Goodridge has not made them yet.

Everybody that sells these says they are a special order. Is the reality of this then as you say , none are available ?

i have the good ridge ones. i would not recommend them. they do not come with the brackets and it is a pain in the a$$ to get the old brackets off the old lines. go with the egr they look a lot better. i think that i will change to them soon.
