I am planning on installing a complete A-pillar 3gauge set. I have heard that Isspro is more difficult to install. What is your opinion, guys, as I have never done this before.

Don't think one set would be any more or less easy to install. Get the ones you want and be happy with your choice instead of settling for a compromise.

I used Isspro on my 96'. Just installed Westech on my new truck. No real difference. I didn't like the 3gauge pillar on my 96'. It creates a blind spot. On my 06' I went with a dual gauge EGT/boost. It's a little more expensive but no blind spot.

My opinion is that an electrical fuel pressure gauge is easiest to do (I have never installed a mecanical FP gauge. ) I do not know if Isspro makes an electric FP gauge. I did the Westack electric in my '01 and am repeating the setup in my '05.

ILIANBG,

I have Isspro guages in my truck, never done it before either, but can't imagine any of them being any eazier than the other except for an electronic fuel pressure guage, sending unit and one wire, pretty simple. As for mechanical fuel guage, you'll need a new banjo bolt to tap into the bottom of the fuel filter, a braided stainless steel line from the banjo bolt to an isolater, and another line to the guage on the pillar, another braided line is recommended but not necessary, I am using a typical oil pressure line kit you can get at any auto parts store from the isolator to the guage. There are some that say you can go directly to the guage from the tap into the fuel system, but it is not recommended and you may need some type of snubbing device to control the pulses to the guage. hope this helps.

Thanks a lot to all, for sharing your experience. I probably am going to install Westach gauges then, it looks I can get a lot for the money at Geno's, and I think I'll go with the A-pillar 3pc. . I hope I do not need to install a special fuse(es) or one of those painless wiring harness for that. Did you guys use anything extra like those, or just straight hook up. Thanks again. Ilian

I just installed Westachs in a dual A pillar pod. FP and combo boost/EGT.

You need a source of switched 12V (i. e. hot when ignition is "on"). If you want the gauge lights to dim with the instrument panel dimmer, you'll need to tap into that circuit, as well. Geno's includes a couple of taps with their gauge kits. You can also use one of those "painless" wiring harnesses, or something else that piggybacks onto the fuse panel. Or, you can hunt around for a switched 12V source that's more of a "direct" hook up - though you'll probably still want to fuse it.

I opted to leave the gauge lights on full brightness all the time, so I only needed one power supply. I already had an auxiliary electrical box attached to the top of the PDC (containing relay, fuses, terminals, and a few unused switched 12V sources), so I didn't have to tap into anything at the fuse panel. If I was starting from scratch, I'd probably add this box first then wire everything up just as I did. I like having the easily-accessible switched, unswitched, and individually-fused power sources available.

If you go with the Westachs, those that have the little lamp inserts with red or green "caps" to color the light, be careful inserting and removing them. I used the green caps, installed them, then pulled the insert back out of the FP gauge housing. The green cap came off and is now trapped inside the gauge. I'm in the process of replacing those bulbs with LEDs.

I have been running Isspro EV Series gauges 4 yrs Boost, Pyro, transmission on

a pillar and a Mechanical Fuel press no Issolator in dash no problems. Oo.
