Just bought a deep-drop Ranch Hand rear bumper, so when I buy my Class 5 hitch here soon, I have to keep in mind the receiver height. Which of the Class 5 hitches that are out there hangs the lowest? Anybody have any measurements of where your Class 5 receiver is compared to your stocker? Thanks.

The receiver on my Putman XDR is five-eights inch higher than on the OEM hitch.

I bought the Ranch Hand bolt-on reiceiver and use that. I mounted it below the bumper and use a 10 or 12" drop stinger.

I did the same thing with my Ranch-Hand bumper. But in addition to bolting it to the bumper with grade 8 bolts, I also welded a bead around the edges. Ranch hand claims that the 10,000 pound bumper is downgraded to 5,000 when you use their bolt on adapter.

That's the problem, I'd like something rated at more than 5,000 lbs. I'd like to be able to sled pull with it, and I'm afraid the bumper mount wouldn't hold up. Based on Thomas' measurement, the Putnam is out due to clearance. What about Drawtite, Reese, etc? Thanks, guys.

You might contact Putnam at 800-336-4271.

I have their #25132 hitch on my model year 2000 longbed Ram with OEM bumper. I remember wading through various hitch numbers when I purchased: 25132, 25127, 25134, 25126, etc. Some of these numbers are for Rams with 10" step bumpers (whatever that means) vs. the OEM bumper. You can see lots of numbers and descriptions here: http://trailersnhitches.com/putnam/rechitches/dodgepuapp.htm

Good luck!

Thanks, Thomas. Looks like they still don't have one for my application ('01 quad cab shortbed with the drop bumper). I'm going to give 'em a call in case they have one that's not listed that would fit...

On a related note, I just dropped off my Ranchhand rear and King Klaw front bumper for sandblast and powdercoat! :)
