I have a 99 5 speed and i am looking into purchasing a clutch. I have An Edge comp (120 horse) and DD2's injectors (80 horse) Banjo fittings, cone filter and straight pipe so i have alittle more horse than just the injectors and chip. I am wanting to purchase a clutch for my truck. I have been looking at the South Bend 13 inch 1. 25 OFE. But i would like a dual disk maybe Mcleod. What do you guys think.

I'm pretty much where you are HP wise, my 13. 5 Con OFE works great.

Unless you are thinking of alot more HP in the future, that is what I would recommend.

Cheers,

Cam

13" OFE is what I'm putting in, I tow a lot, not planning on any more Bombs except Mach 1. 6 injectors. Can't go wrong with a SBC!!!

Gotta like that!!! I got a great deal on the OFE off of TDR classifieds, I was going to put in the ConO, guess I will have to bump up the power now!!!!

A dual disk is awesome but I have never driven a regular SB OFE or anything like that. I can say that backing up a large trailer would be a chore unless you have a 2WD Low kit. Also the dual disk shifts a little slower. For what I do (grocery getter and very part time sled puller) my SB dual disk works great but I don't think it'd be perfect for everyone.

Stay away from dual discs unless you NEED the holding power (mega-hp, sledpulling, etc).

The OFE should suit you well. If you are in doubt as to whether you will bomb bast 475hp or so, go with the FE-- a little grabbier, but a good clutch.

be safe and go with a dual disk i went through 2 singles in a year one south bend fe and a luk you cant go wrong with a dual

With all due respect, you CAN go wrong with a dual disc. Most lack sufficient damping of the discs, and you will see a spiral cracking of the input shaft.

There's a REASON you shouldn't go with a dual disc unless you simply must have one for the holding power, as I mentioned before.

Furthermore, I'd submit that if you burned through a Con FE with the HP listed in your signature, then you are either abusing your clutch SEVERELY, or simply don't know how to drive a stick shift very well.

A Con FE rated to 550hp will not fail quickly at 400hp unless there's abuse. :{

Does anyone run a Centerforce dual disc? They are about half the price just wondering about performance.

I may be 100% wrong because I have been before, but I believe the Centerforce is a dual friction clutch not a dual disk.

Anybody have feedback on a dual disk mcleod and inform me in on the dual disk and the single disk, the pros and cons please, thanks

I'd say stick with South Bend too, and stray away from dual disk until its necessary.

As for the 2 wheel low, that is VERY easy to do. You have central axle disconnect in the front end, you just need a switch to bypass it. I've done it in a bunch of jeeps, blazers, etc... takes no time and the D60 or D70 in these trucks works the same way.

I've got a Centerforce dual friction clutch. It is a single disk clutch with friction pucks instead of a continuous friction surface like the stock disk. The cover is a Luk cover with centrifugal weights attached to the release fingers. Guess the weights apply more clamping force as the RPMs go up. Don't know if the Luk springs are beefed up or not.

I've got a HO with an EZ, but just the EZ made my stock clutch start slipping at about 20K miles.

I tow about 19,000 lbs. gross and the Centerforce holds everything I got. For the price I'd put another one in when this one goes.
