Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Which Code reader do I need for Trans codes?

I have a 97' CTD auto built in late 96'.

I need to retrieve the Transmission trouble codes from the PCM.

I hate to buy one.

I have tried the troble light codes, but need the ones from the trans relating to Gov. pressure.

Anyone know of someone who would rent one or just do a quick test?
