Which computer chip?

My new 2500 4x4, 24 valve, auto with 3. 54's should be in soon. Which power enhancement chip should I get? So far my choices are, the blue box, TST's add on cumputer, and van Aaken's CPC. Is there anymore out there? I won't be towing. The truck will be loaded all the time with about 600 to 1000 lbs. Thanks in advance, bilford.

I know that this "upgrade" is more than a chip. . it's an entire module...
I had to do the same thing when I hopped up My 89 Mustang...
No replacement chip, an entire "strap on" module was needed... .
THE PRICE WAS $200-$250... For A BIG kick in the pants. . (Hypertech was the MFG)

Now this Is a note to Blue Chip,and VanAaken's .

Want to sell Hundreds of Thousands of units???
LOWER THE PRICE TO A POINT WHERE JOE PAYCHECK CAN AFFORD IT!!!!

Is it better to sell 100 units and make $40,000 profit. . or sell 5000 units and make a cool 1/2 MILLION profit?

Put this thing in reach of many. . and they will buy it... I alone know of 5 people(myself included) who would Grab it if the price was LOWER...

I recommend the Blue Box. I have been running it for a while now and am totally stoked. I like the ability to be able to turn it off for cruising, but kick it on when I go for a risky pass on a two lane. Check the topic "Blue Box" 'bout 2 weeks ago to see some of the banter.

I also hope to be able to recommend a version of injectors, soon as I can get them tested. Each of these items are good for 100 hp separate, and I am told that from tests the combo is 375 hp. I will be your truth barometer.

Cummins has their own up-rate for the ISB as well, the ETH-series computer, a total box replacement at almost a grand. Keeps the engine warranty (forget about Dodge, though). No one I know has one installed yet, it's only for manuals, and from what I can tell you don't get to turn it on and off... .

I'm faced with the same problem. A new 2000 Dodge with a GREAT engine that's being limited. Also under consideration is the factory warentee. I don't want to make Dodge so mad they won't work on the truck if something goes wrong. Stealth Parts is what I need. I'm going to put 10-12k miles before I start with upgrades. I'm also going to beanch mark performance with a G-Tech before I do anything so I can measure the difference, not just hear or feel it. I liked the van Aaken unit because it can be un-plugged and removed if needed. Maybe other units are the some. I just started looking. It's great to hear about the different products and what they do on real users trucks.

Hey Rob - The Dynosource box is the same box as mine. At least I was told so by somebody who should know. The specs are close for the two products although I believe they were done on different dynos

The Cummins upgrade is interesting if you intend to stop at that level. I believe the boxes provide significantly more horsepower for less money. The key is when I get down no warranty is going to cover me, I'm on my own. I am my own warranty station.

A message for Larry... ... Quit being cheap on your phord mustang you didnt get near the performance difference with the chip as you do with the modules for the cummins. Most chips for gasoline engines are a joke(experienced). You already spent 30K for your truck now is not the time to be cheap.

I believe Dynosource is in WA. state, so if you live up that way like Evan and Mike, makes sense to have a local contact. They were good to talk to over the phone too.

Blue Chip is in New Hamshire of course, so that contact would be via the phone.

Here's the ratings from their web sites. (1) Blue Chip, 252. 5 HP @2200 RPM 656. 6 lbs Torque @1700 RPM. (2) TST, 275HP 660 lbs manual and 255HP 620 lbs for the automatic. (no RPM numbers. ) (3) van Aaken 44 HP to the rear wheels. I can't find a torque rating. The price for the Blue Chip and TST are $795 and $799. Emailed van Aaken for cost but haven't gotten a reply. Turbo... From your post you seem to have a Hostility to Ford.
To let you know... A level 3 Hypertech Module with all the mods done to that car Really allowed the engine to "Open up".
I don't know what your "Experience" is with "Phords" as you put it, so I'll not debate you. . on the issue...

As for being Cheap... Lets just say. . on an unproved technology. . with the possible ramifications of using the module. . you would think a more attractive pricing would be prudent.

Also TST has off road competition kits that currently go on up to 305 horse and 730 ft-lbs of torque. bilford

Even though 305 hp just won't do in my case, what do the TST (good outfit) "kits" include, and what do they cost. I enjoy monitering hp sources and value in my endeavor towards horsepower nirvana.

hvac, according to an email from Mark Chapple at TST products, the 305HP 730ft-lb is just the off road version of their chip. I assume the cost is $799. He said they have an injector kit that makes 40HP and 60ft-lbs. He also said combining them will no doubt make more power than either 1 or 2 separatley. The injector kit is $499. (includes shipping). I am at the point where I need injectors and the standard 275 injectors don't seem to produce the effect I desire. Let's throw out the cost for the moment From my info search I need a combo of wastgate adjustment (up to 30 lbs. to decrease egt and burn the additional fuel, Blue Box, and injectors.

Also it seems that all these boxes are framed as off-road accessories to eliminate the requirement for conforming to epa restrictions. I will be on the road, at least when my tires hit the ground!

No insults meant I think I have been living on the East coast too long all I was trying to say is that as you put it with the right engine mods already being done your chip might do something for your car. But with this products it seems you get alot of performance enhancement for a relatively low cost. Yes too many bad fords I have owned to list on here. Now glad I own a Dodge
