Planning to do a coolant flush soon. Should I go with the 150k mile coolant again or go with the cheaper stuff that’s more readily available? I’m approaching 150k miles. Anyone had good or bad experiences either way?
Thanks
Craig

Don't cheap out.
Any leftover original coolant in the system can cause issues if mixed with incompatible coolant.
I buy the concentrated coolant, either off amazon or ebay, then make my own 50/50 mix with distilled water from walmart. This makes the coolant cost a LOT LESS than buying the premixed stuff, concentrate can usually be found for around $22 a gallon, and the distilled water is only 79 cents a gallon, so for about $23 you get 2 gallons of mixed coolant.

My truck went had zero issues with the factory fill, was clean when I had it out at 185k for a radiator replacement.. (it was changed under warranty repair at 95k), I was going to change it at 200k, but changed trucks instead..:D

I was going to put in the Zerex G05, bought 3 gal, still sitting on the shelf in the shop but I did not like it was not dyed.. I probably would've just gone with the MOPAR stuff in retrospect but they are both good as far as I have read, but like was said make sure you flush and clean it out prior to refilling, and use DI water.

Another vote for concentrate since you can't get all the old stuff out and if you flush it you will end up with too low of a %coolant with pre-mix.

G05 is older tech, definitely don't use that without flushing a few times with water first.

Z-rex G05 from Oreillys and distilled water from walmart. 5 gallons each. That's what I use every 50k when I change my water pump. That's my experience.

What did they change it to now? Never heard of any issues related to the G05

As mentioned above it's OAT coolant. G05 is HOAT.

It's not that G05 is bad it's that it does not play well with others and if you mix it with the wrong stuff, on accident or lack of options, it can cause issues with gelling. When it's changed properly and regularly it's a fine coolant.
