Who's This?

I thought it would be interesting to see what percentage of TDR members own what generation trucks, so I thought a poll would be fun. Please, please, let's not turn this into a "my truck is better than your truck" thread. The poll allows multiple selections as some of you have more than one.

You forgot a slot... what about the 98. 4 12Valves?? They are a class of their own, ya know! hehehe, just playin with ya Klenger!

I plan on selling my 02 CTD and purchasing a 05/06 from Tomeygun. Then a first gen 12v CTD for the "fun" of it. The first gen will be my experimental machine.

Yeah, I got a first gen, two to be exact. Heck I would trade my 75/440 4X4 pulling truck for another first gen! ;) I'd like to have a diesel pulling truck, course it would have to have a VE and a getrag :--)

1st, 2nd, 3rd. ?

Being a new member not sure "Exactly" what you mean by 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen. Could be used truck or something else. I bought a 2000 Quad Cab 2x4 Dodge/Cummins Turbo Diesel 24 valve truck from Dave Smith in 2000... ... ... . I thought it was pretty quiet at first, but then I got hearing aids and it wasn't as quiet as I thought. I did develop a problem with some RPM surge at 35 and 49 MPH and went to two transmission shops and neither one could tell me what was wrong. Then I read an article in Trailer Life Magazine by Hal Neuman of Las Vegas NV on how to re-caliberate the Accelerator Pedal Posion Sensor, so I followed his article instructions and it worked out great, NO MORE PROBLEM ! Beings I saved all that money I spent $35 and joined Turbo Diesel Register and my next problem I am a coming to you guys... ... ... LOL Oo.

what you mean by 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen.

1st gen=1989-1993, the oldest body style with a Cummins

2nd gen=1994-2002, both 12 valve (94-98. 5) and 24 valve (98. 5-02)

3rd gen=2003 and newer, 555, 600, 610 engines

Welcome aboard! You'll end up learning more here than you probably need to know! :D

A minor correction to AMink's excellent information: Some of the 2003 trucks (i. e. 47RE autos) came with a starndard outpout engine and the CA trucks were different too. I don't know that the actual torque ratings were, but they were lower than 555. I think they even offered the NV4500 5 speed in 2003 with the SO engine.

My bad! Sorry, didn't leave anyone out on purpose! The spell check didn't catch my booboo  . The 3gs moved so fast in the engine compartment, I couldn't keep up! Guess it would be easier to tell by body style.

No problem, AMink! Had to give you a hard time! ;)

I love it there in Reno, by the way. I can't wait for my next business trip out your way!
