Looking to Relocate Oil Filter

40/35 hybrid

I am having to upgrade my transmission and since I live near Chris Strickland and James Northup, it just made sense to go with DTT since I can't go wrong with any of the big transmission companies. With the mods I have now and plan on adding I should end up at around 450hp. The truck is my daily driver, will be towing up to 8000lb about once a month and my right foot is heavier than my left. Most of my driving will be done using the DD3's alone or with my comp box on 1. The truck has 3. 54 gears and 31" tires but I probably will upgrade to 33's.

I have already talked to DTT and discussed which VB and TC I should go with but it still kinda boils down to personal preferance. I want firm but non jarring shifts and not too much lag taaking off normally from a stoplight. I am leaning twords the tow VB and 91% TC but wanted to get some other peoples opinions.

Anyone running this setup and wish they did it differantly?

oh yeah

I've been running Bills 91% TC and VB for going on 3 years this April.

I tow a 30' 10K 5er a few times in the summer month.

I have had zero problems since the installation. Gotta love a great product.

Enjoy the ride :)

I would run the 89H or 89 TC in your truck personally. and the med shift VB. Id probably go with the 89H. i have the 91% TC in my truck, about a yr and a 1/2 now, with a minimum of 425hp,and up to the current 650+hp. and its great with my 4. 10 ratio ,but Dad has the 89H and 3. 55 ,and it is VERY nice, hes at 400hp,and its a perfect match.

I really can't recommend which TC to go with as I'm running stock power. Bill set my transmission up for an EZ & 275's and recommended that I go with the towing VB and the 89% TC since I'm towing at 10k or under with 300 HP or less.

No regrets and trouble free for the last 16k miles.

ECappleman, I sent you a PM. I would be happy to give you a ride in my truck. 89% TC about 450 HP. I live next door in Cedar Park.

Tom

Don't let the 89 fool you, I pushed one to 700 hp and it was doing fine I just wanted a little more RPM drop at WOT so I went to a 91 when I did the Billet stuff.

As you start reading the responses you are going to notice one common thing, the versions and applications are as varied as the drivers. Which might further confuse the issue but still interesting to read. At least you have a truck to bomb. I went off a 30' embankment and tangled with a few trees on the way down, got cut off and was on black ice Wed night, she ended up going nose first and my truck is a mess. No injuries except for my Dodge but boy is she hard to look at.

89 will probably tow a little better. Handles the turbo lag a little better. I have run 89 and 91 so thats my story and I'm sticking to it. :p

The more the responses the better I am getting a feel for which I will get. I am fortunate enough to be running enough power to have the choice. Each driver is differant and each situation is differant and each persons viewpoint of the same thing can be differant. I am just trying to get as broad a spectrum as I can instead of an invidual telling me what I will like.

I feel your pain as to the truck loss. My first custom truck was a 1997 Chevy 2500HD excab shortbed with the Vortec 454. I had to wait 9 months to get it and at the time there were less than 10 of these trucks in Texas. Two years and $7000 in mods later I swerved to miss bambi and lost it on the soft shoulder of the road.

I just got my dtt installed 89% towing valve body& torque conv. Just love the way it shifts, loaded or empty. Towing 12,000 lb 5vr

Sorry to here about your truck Stefan glad you are ok

Well you told me if you had it to do over again you'd build it different. Hope insurance pays for the new mods

Stefan....

Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you're ok.

Hope it's fixed or replaced when I come up in a couple of months.

I have the 89 and like it for quicker spool up, but next time I will go with a 91%. I spent some time driving a friends truck with a 93% dtt race converter and it made my transmission feel like a stocker:D
