Which Exhaust

I have a 2004. 5 2500 4x4 that is all stock except for suspension and rims.

What Exhaust Kit would you guys recommend?

Besides performance, I want a burly sound.

I don't care too much about it being quiet in the cab since I always have my stereo on.



Any recommendations on setup, size, and manufacturer I should go with?

I ripped off the muff and replaced it with the muff delete pipe from Genos Garage. With the cat still in place it muffles it enough but has a great rumble sound. If I had to do all over I would do the same thing.

I see you are in cali so a cat is going to have to stay. I have an MBRP 5" turbo-back on my 07. It sounds great- low pitch growl. The only drawback is when you are pulling and/or running the freeway at 75-80. The noise is definately noticable. I DO have a muffler in line, but is installed backwards which supposedly allows more air through. So there you have it... . That's what a diesel "rookie" from Nebraska does with his 5. 9.

Summit Racing sells a nice polished 304 Stainless system... I've been happy with mine.

Most aftermarket setups sound nice. If you really want a better sound you need to change the manifold to a 2nd gen. It moves the outlet between the 3rd and 4th ports rather than the 4th and 5th. It makes the exhaust sound more like a the 2nd gens. Anyone have this done? I just got my manifold and am anxiously waiting to put it on.
