I purchased a Fleetguard filter from my local diesel shop, a Cummins "specialist" and was given an LF3349. It has two different notations printed on the shell acknowledging its approval for OEM Cummins installation. 3600 miles later, I pulled into a Freightliner shop and when asked what I wanted, I told them two LF3349s for my '99 24Valve..... he looked it up and said that was the right filter for a B series. Now, I see that there are only two Fleetguards authorized by Cummins, neither being the LF3349, according to the Local Dodge dealer and ... . oh yes... .
... the diesel outfit that sold me the first LF3349. I have installed a recommended LF3894 but am left with two of the "misfits". Oddly enough, the LF3894 has no referrence to Cummins printed on it... .
So... . can I use the two 49s in a pinch? Or... as the Dodge folks said "They're getting real nasty about non-approved additions or replacements... . warranty and all that" But the book says those filters are good for series B 5. 9 diesels..... what the #### is going on?
