I just read the form on front disk brakes. I have encountered similar problems. I am curious which brand of front disk brakes give the best stopping power. I have been using Bendix titanium disk brakes, and just installed new ceramic brakes. The ceramic brakes seem to lack stopping power, and produce excessive brake fade. I am looking for a recommendation for a good front disk brake, or I will go back to the Bendix titanium pads.

Thanks,

Brad

BEST FRONT BRAKE PADS

I JUST INSTALLED SOME CARBOMET FRONT PADS FROM SAM PETERSEN IN WASHINGTON STATE. I ALSO HAND ADJUSTED THE BACK BRAKES ON MY TRUCK A 98. 5. I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH GOOD BRAKES ON THE TRUCK SINCE NEW. THEY STOP GREAT ON THE FIRST TRY AND NO HEATING UP AND POSSIBLY WARPING THE ROTORS OF WHICH I'VE HAD THE THIRD SET JUST INSTALLED. I'M NOT CERTAIN HOW LONG THESE PADS WILL LAST BUT WITH THE GREAT BRAKES AND NO WARPED ROTORS I'D RATHER REPLACE THESE PADS EACH YEAR RATHER THAN DEAL WITH WARPED ROTORS AND LOUSY BRAKES. CALL AND TALK TO ANYONE AT SAM'S SHOP AND THEY CAN SET YOU STRAIGHT ON MAKING YOUR BRAKES WORK. I'VE TRIED 5 DIFFERENT PADS RECOMMENDED BY EVERY SHOP IN OREGON AND NONE OF THEM STOPPED GOOD AND ALL WARPED THE ROTORS. THESE ARE THE BEST THEY ARE CARBOMET PADS AND ARE UNDER $50 PAIR WITH BUSHINGS FROM SAM'S SHOP. THAT INCLUDES SHIPPING. LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE A TDR MEMBER. HIS NUMBER IS (360) 357-4958

I bought a set from Sam as well. I haven't put them on yet, so I can't really comment on them. However Sam was a super person to deal with.

I got Carbomet from Sam. He was good and prompt . They have been on for 10,000 or so, work fine, a lot less of that nasty black dust.
