being a tightwad I used a VDO oil pressure gauge that I had laying around, it doesnt know oil from fuel and isnt marked with words just a goofy symbol and it works great.

Being an even tighter wad I used a $9 liquid filled mechanical pressure gauge & $6 needle valve from Grainger and $5 oil pressure gauge tubing kit from the auto parts. Made my own gauge holder, but could of bought one for 5 more bucks. Working great for almost two years. No lighting though.

Deezul, I tried an S-W oil pressure gauge, sender didn't last long due to the pulsations. Hope you have better luck.

illflem

I have about 18" of rubber fuel line between the filter tap and the sending unit and it has been working for 8 months so far. I hope it does keep working. There is no spiking on the needle at all with this setup but with the sender screwed directly into the IP banjo bolt it was almost unreadable, thats a good idea tapping that banjo bolt, I did it on my old truck but used the TST filter tap this time.

I bought the Westech from Geno's and 2 senders and the 5 new banjo bolts with 2 of them tapped for 1/8 " npt. Put it all together, now with a flip of the switch I can see pre and post filter, helps to monitor DP as well as health of the dredded lift pump:eek:

I have two... pre-filter is an Autometer Ultralite mechanical gauge, mounted on the hood. Post filter is the SPA gauge, mounted in the cab. Like 'em both.

Thanks

I think I will be getting the Westech from Genos like "Whitmore" has. I don't see a need for two sending units, I intend to install it in the injection pump inlet. I change the fuel filter at 750 miles I have let to see any water or other "stuff" in the fuel filter housing. I drain the fiter of some fuel when I change the engine oil. Or if I am taking a trip up to the GREAT WHITE NORTH.

I have a very scientific method to do this by draining some fuel into an emtpy "clean" PEPSI bottle.

I then let it sit for a while and look at it. :D Hey it works for me:D .

See Ya

I have a mechanical AutoMeter Ultralite 0-35 PSI gauge. It is mounted in the A-Pillar and is connected directly to the bottom of the fuel filter housing with braided Aeroquip lines and fittings. It is a wonderful setup... very accurate and very reliable. It was installed and purchased at Advanced Diesel Technology. Give Andy or Doug a call.

Autometer Z 0-35. Aeroquip -4 braided SS line and fittings, tapped Banjo post filter. Guage is underneat the ashtray. Simple, reliable. Bought it from Andy www.smokindiesel.com (ADT) Very happy.

FWIW,

Glenn
