I've got an 04. 5 3500 srw and I'm having a hell of a time trying to pick a gear and get the sled moving without stalling. It's a pretty new setup with a SB DD 3600# clutch, HTB2 64, 3. 73 gears, 285 mud tires, a bunch of other goodies, and I'm putting out over 550hp and 1025 tq. I'm looking for some input from others pulling with a 6speed and similar horsepower output. I'm not new to pulling but like I said this is a new setup and I've only pulled it twice.

Here are my failed two attempts so far. The first time I tried it in 2nd high, dumped the clutch to soon, and got under the turbo. I didn't stall it but I just said screw it and kept the throttle open. At about the 75ft mark the turbo spooled up and the truck took off. When the turbo did spool up I could tell I needed a higher gear because the rpms kept running up to 3200 and I had to back out of it(still placed 4th). The second pull I tried 5th low which is between 2nd and 3rd high. I dumped the clutch to soon and stalled it. I'm getting very frustrated.

I need some feedback as to which gear to try and advice on keeping the turbo spooled when taking off.

I think part of the problem is that you're "dumping" the clutch. You need to keep rpms above 1600 (peak torque on 04. 5+) until the clutch is all the way out. If you've got a big turbo, it's easy lose the pressure at low RPM. Maybe Twins!!! Don't worry about 3200 RPM, let er eat! Might check pulling forum for other pointers.

Slip the clutch and maintain RPM's. Contact jwilliams3 on here he can give you a few pointers.

Competition Forum... sorry about that. There is a lot of pulling info in there. You might even try a search found under Disscussion Forums.
