which gooseneck hitch

I am in the market for a gooseneck hitch. I am going to buy a 14K-20K gooseneck trailer and am looking for which hitch people like and dislike. I am not going to be towing that much with it, maybe twice a month tops. If more than that just little local stuff. Longest distance towed would be less than 1000 miles. All opinions welcome.

I have had good luck with the B@W Turnover ball. Its like a 2" receiver in the bed requires no drilling and the first time I installed one it took about an hour. I pulled a 2000# gooseneck and hauled tractors and skidloaders. My friend also installed one with a fifthwheel package and used his to pull campers cross country. When you dont need it you just pull a pin and flip the ball over and it mounts flush in the bed.

Definitely go with a "turnover or hidden" style. Any of the major name brands will work well. You may be able to find a good deal from a local installer. I was able to get my gooseneck hitch installed cheaper than I could have bought it online and paid shipping.



Price shop and then approach a local hitch installer. I bet they can match or beat the price, basically installing it for free.



You will regret selecting a GN hitch that is permanently mounted in the bed, obstructing the use of the bed, especially since you indicated infrequent use.

I'm not worried about the area in the bed, so next hitch I buy will be the TailerSaver air hitch. For me that's the only way to go.
