Me personally, I REALLY like the looks of the Lunar and the Cobalt, so I was thinking about mixing them up getting a Lunar Pyro and a cobalt boost guage or vice versa... and that's as far as I got... . I made a little ca$h money today the wife doesn't no about and I'm lookin' to spend it wisely ;) I can't figgure out why the cobalt boost guage is so damn expensive tho . Of course I'm just saying which ones I like by looking at pictures tho :- Anyhoo, I'm lookin for some opinions on what the best lookin guages are so that I know i didn't overlook any and say i wish I woulda bought that lol :)

Thanks guyz,

Z-serise Autometer

well, for me, I wanted to keep the 'look' of my 6 gauges to appear as if they were 'factory', meaning they didn't really stick out, but looked very at home in the cab. The Autometer Z-Series gauges match the factory ones darned near perfectly - black bezel, white numbers, red needle, plus the green hue for the lights at night. The gauges usually come with either an orange/red or green slip cover for the litle bulbs, and the green is dead on with the factory backlighting.

Check out my readers rigs for some pics of my gauges, under 'diesel'.

I gotta say Gonzo, VERY good job on the install... im impressed, but now I'm also a little scared to try this on mine, because inside the cab isn't the place where i want to make a mistake, if you know what i mean! Pretty hard to ignore lol. Nice job dude, I'd like mine to look like that... . I'd like to see pics of the lights at night ;) Hint hint lol Now I'm wondering if the lunar or cobalt or anything else would even look right, let alone better

Thanx for opening my eyes,

Carl G

. . hmmm, I'm not sure if I can get a good shot of them at night, but I'll try and repost. All I can say is they nearly perfectly match the factory gauges including the color - with one exception (I just remembered) - the tach doesn't have the provision for the little bulb cover, so it just has a plain white bulb. That tach is a #2888, 2 5/8", and I'm working with Autometer to see if we can wire up their smaller 2 1/16" 5000 rpm tach via the wiring that is factory (some dash's have a little plug under the dash for a tach) and I'm trying to see if that nice little tach will work with our rigs. If so then the smaller tach wll also have the green bulb cover and that would make a perfect set. Stay tuned...

I use the Autometer sport comp series of gages in a A pillar mount. They match the styling of the Dodge gages. The needles are white.

I found out at TIM this year that a 94 steering column mount single gage fits the 93 model column. There was a guy there with one installed on his 93 W250. The only down side I saw was it had the speedo blocked above 85 MPH.

The autometer # 15012 for the gage pod. It shows it fits 94 to 2002 models. It fit good on the 93 I saw at TIM. I am not sure on how far back in years it will fit. So for the people interested. Check you column against a 93 to make sure it is the same style.

So where is the best place to put your EGT probe in the exhaust manifold?

I'm going to get some gauges soon and have been wondering about this.

So where is the best place to put your EGT probe

That's kind of a personal question don't you think?:-laf :-laf

Seriously it goes in the section right ahead of the turbo, ... there is a web down the center of that part and the probe goes in the middle of the rear portion. The gage instruction sheet will tell you how far down to put it.

Sheesh... ... I didnt know that was personal... ... if I buy an exhaust brake do they come w/ an EGT probe location already?

Just trying to plan my purchases.

column tach?

Philip -

I've been wanting to do that very install as well. Only thing is I want my tach there, and the only diesel tach Autometer has that is close is that #2888, but it's a bigger unit (2 5/8") than that column-mounted pod (which is I think 2 1/16"). Do you know if the one you saw had a tach mounted in that pod or another gauge? I'm trying to figure out if the wiring under the dash (at least on my '93 it's there) will 'tickle' a 2 1/16 tach to fit that pod. Anyone???

Isspro (or however it is spelled) has a small tach. It doesn't match the autometer's to good. But it will fit the 94 gage pod.

Greenleaf has one in his truck. Hea Green post a pic of your tach.

I want my tach there also.

The guy has a trans temp gage in it if I remember right.

Everyone that walked up that owned a 1st gen was asking about that gage pod. He had a lot of interest. Scott (Greenleaf) and me spotted that gage setup first thing. He hadn't even gotten the engine cooled down. LOL

OFitzgerald- the e-brake has the probe hole AFTER the turbo, so why does it really matter?

Take a look at these ISSPRO EV gauges and see what you think... . Not the BEST shot, but it gives you an idea. Autometer pod #15198
