I sold my 2500, I'm going to order a new truck and I'm wondering if the 1 ton(single rear wheels) has a better ride than my old truck--I will also be getting a crew cab verses the old regular cab that i sold.

David.

PS I hope I won't be missing the 20 mpg i got with my 2500!!

2500 and 3500 ride should be identical, until you put enough weight on it to hit the overloads. No reason not to get the 3500 IMHO.

2500 and 3500 SRW will have a virtually identical ride. Either one in a quad cab will probably be slightly better than your standard cab.

I have a 3500 SRW long bed and my brother has a 2500 short bed both quad cabs, and mine definately rides better, I think the one ton has a little longer springs on them, plus you have the overloads on them for the heavy loads. WILDMAN

IMO the reason your truck rides better is the longer wheelbase of your long bed. Longer wheel base always rides better than short.

The springs are the same except for the overload which does nothing when the tuck is empty or loaded light. I drove mine to L. A. from Idaho where I bought it and was very impressed with the ride until I got to the L. A. freeways (actually, the Grapevine) with the expansion joints when it started riding like a buckboard. One problem was the tires all had 60LBS of air in them which is not necessary when the truck is empty, but beyond that the springs are very stiff as of course they need be to be able to perform as a heavy duty truck. I am looking into doing some suspension modifications to make the truck more pleasant to drive on rough freeways. I am now running tire pressure at 50 front and 40 rear, and have some sandbags aginst the tailgate which helps a little. I bought the 3500 because I plan to tow an RV but probably not right away. See my post titled "Suspension"

The truck with the longer wheelbase should ride the best. The 2500 and 3500 trucks with the same wheelbases should ride the same.
