Hi everybody, new at this stuff so bare with me. I would like to know what injectors would go best with my VA, I've been looking at the 275's and the DDII's. Would there be any other additions I would need, boost elbow etc. . Is there a big difference between the two beside the price? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also am planning on the JRE 4" exhaust turbo back without resinator. Thanks to all.

Exhaust and injectors to come

275's or DD 1's are the biggest with a VA. The II's will smoke way too much with no gain.
You'll also need a boost module and boost elbow.

oops I made a mistake, after going back to the DD page and checking out the injectors, I meant to say the DDI's. Thanks Mike for pointing that out.

If you go with an EZ, you would not have to buy all that "other stuff".

But... some people like the performance of the VA over the EZ.

Glently used Boost modules can be found for +- $60. 00

Just my 2¢

VA and DD1's will smoke pretty good, but it is not un-manageable IMO. EZ on most agressive level also will smoke pretty good with DD1's. You just learn to roll on the throttle rather than hammer it if you don't like smoke. I liked the DD1/VA/boost module combo a lot better than DD1/EZ, seemed to have a lot more bottom end power and quicker throttle response. I have no numbers to back that up, it is just what my butt told me when I drove. Unless you want the exhuast anyway you will not need it for EGT's, you will have a really hard time getting 1250* with DD1/VA/boost module. You will want to add a boost module whether you change injectors or not, it really perks the truck up over 2200 RPM or so, and keeps it pulling hard all the way to the redline.

Medicummin,

I had the 275's and a VA. That combo gave me more power than I wanted for my application. It gave very little smoke only a bit before the turbo got up to speed. I have a used set of 275's that only have about 3000 miles on them. I will sell them to you at a very good price if your interested. Let me know by e-mail. Randy

I have the ddII's with the VA and I think it's great! Easing on the throttle produce's no smoke at all. I also have an EZ and it works great with that too. DDI's are barely more than the 275's. If you want a real difference... . go with the ddII's..... or..... III's?

Can I change the topic a little? I have finally isolated several people with a VA. In my reading, the VA seems to take into account the limitations of the Bosch fuel pump, with an eye toward averting pump failures that the other boxes do not seem to have. Am I on track? Performance is great blown pumps are not.

I have not purchased yet, so thank all of you for the injector suggestions.

ACoyle... you are somewhat on track. The VA and the EZ are limited as to the fuel they can add. An additional 65 HP and they are max'd out. The 'other' fueling boxes add way more fuel and can add up to approx. 120 HP... . far more demand on the VP44. Hope this helps.

I know the other boxes can add a lot more. My thinking is that I'll add less power and keep the engine / pump longer.

While I'm at it is VA and EZ something doable?

VA + DDI's are a good combo, been there.. done that

I started with the VA and loved it!!

Added the DD boost module and elbow ( boost and elbow really helps on a stick but showed less benefit on an auto without better injectors)

Added the DD1's and loved it even more!!

Made too many trips to HVAC land and wanted more more more

Sold the VA, stripped off the DD boost module...

Installed a HOT Power Edge and really loved the truck!!

But then the OEM clutch went (last summer) and could not hold the extra power in the higher gears!! Thank god the PE could be turned off!!

Finally got my JDonnelly clutch installed recently and the love affair is back on... :)

Now I have a driveline clunk that is starting too worry me. I suspect getting stuck in the mud too many times is going to cost me big bucks in the not too distant future.

And since my identity is now public knowledge I bet the extended warranty I had is on the termination list... :(

(sorry TDR mgmt, I could not resist sliding that one in)

Really I don't make it a practice to lie to DC. I have a good relationship with my service guy and have always been straight with him. Thus far my honesty has not cost me, however I know many of our members have been burned by the warranty police.

:) Would like to thank everbody again for your reply's. I think I have decided to go with the DD1's for now along with my VA. If any one could answer 1 more ? for me. Do I need a boost module and elbow? What brand to buy? Who has them at the best price? I noticed a couple of you said I need one but am still not clear on this one. Thanks, Dwayne

I started with the VA. Very impressed. Next I added 275's. This produced smiles also. The VA+275's combo is much more powerful than either upgrade alone. Sensing the need for a boost module, I purchased the Power Edge since it includes a boost module that will operate even when the Edge is off (ie. no additional fueling). Peak boost with the Edge off rose from 24psi to 30psi. Turn on the edge and you find yourself giggling like a school girl. Level one gives a tremendous amount of extra power over the VA+275's. Levels 2 and 3 give less noticeable seat of the pants increases over the previous level. Boost maxes out around 42psi. All of this happens with little or no smoke.
