The preverbial question. After 180K+ miles I think mine are due to retire, and am having trouble figureing out which ones to go with. Currently the truck is stock, to my knowledge. I have been told it has a plate in the pump from how it handles, but I do not know for sure.

Now that my wife is working I would like to go to about 300 hp, without sacraficing the milage and I know that can be a tough call. Maybe a set of towing twin turbos eventually, but right now it is a as must replace basis until we get things straightened out financially. thank you for any advice and/or guidance you guys can give me.

In my opinion (and I have tried many, many different brands) The injectors from DDP are the best for power, milage, ballance, and clean burning. Plus, you will be able to pass the state inspection if you have that.

300hp? that is easy with Lenny's units. But I would consider a better turbo and exhaust to top it all off.

I'm nowhere near "new injectors" on my wish list yet, but the ones being sold by the dieseldude out of Omaha, NE on ebay have me interested. See item 2601503150003. Sorry, I don't how to post a direct link. But what he has to say about his and other injectors makes some sense. His feedback for them is certainly excellent. Maybe someone on TDR has experience with them?

I am thinking when I order them I will go with the DDP3's. And it seems like the best deal is to order direct from them, suprisingly enough.

The other suprise is that my trouble starting was getting worse and now all of a sudden it seems to have cleared up. Just friday I went to get some material for a project and when I went to start the truck I had to put the peadel about 1/4 down and it smoked something fierce, then saturday we took it out to eat and it started fine going and coming. This has me perplexed as to what is causing the trouble, maybe I am chasing the wrong problem, maybe it is the pump:{.

Thanks for the suggestions

Troy

300hp is not hard to get with stock injectors on a 215hp pump. I'd do a #10 cam plate and a 3kRPM Governor Spring Kit. Since youi don't know what plate it has now, pull it out and have a look. Maybe post a photo of the profile and someone might be able to comment on what it may be. Try just a GSK first and I'll bet you'll be happy with the difference (for a little while :) ).

Do you have gauges? If not I'd look into some, any of the mods above will increase you're EGTs and make it capable of getting to dangerous levels. If your clutch is stock it may start slipping soon after you do these mods.

Just my opinion,

Mike

clutch is stock, will be getting gauges also. My concern is that I belive I am having injector troubles and if I go to more hp and have to change the injectors anywayI might as well go to something to make better use of what is being put into the engine. With the stock injectors one can get up to 400+ I thought, but it smokes and gets bads milage due in part to the lack of air, but a injector capable of handling the fuel a little faster would also help with the smoking.

Ahhhh, I see. Well then... I've heard nothing but good about DDP injectors if I wasn't so cheap I'd have a set myself. I was always happy with my 370s and definately the best bang for your buck but a little smokey at idle and wide open. From all the research I've done DDPs are definately a better burning more efficient injector than most others and I've never seen anyone not be happy with them.

If your having starting troubles it may be low fuel pressure. I'd start with changing the fuel filter if it hasn't been done recently and with your mileage a new overflow valve couldn't hurt either. Checking fuel pressure is not that hard either to see if that is the problem. It doesn't hurt to install a FP gauge to help see when it is starting to get low.

Good luck,

Mike
