Towing with 2 wd pros and cons

Two Extremely Lucky Horses

If you want a plush, 2. 5 star rated expensive trailer, pick a HR Presidential.

If you want a 2 star rated, inexpensive trailer, pick a Komfort

If you want a well built reliable trailer that's not too expensive and is rated 4 stars, pick an Arctic Fox.

Note, I had a 29', 1988 Holiday Rambler 5th wheel, which was nice and plush, but it couldn't handle the Alaskan Highway on my 1st trip to Alaska in 1995.

I have a 1996 32 ft HR Alumalite Travel Trailer that has been across the US about 8 or 9 times with over 100,000 miles on it & the only thing I have had to replace has been the suspension bushings, tires, end caps repainted & the AC. Everything else is still original & in excellent shape. It has been a great trailer but I don't think that HR makes the Presidential any more. I do not think that the new HR's has the quality that mine does.

My Holiday Rambler 5er was a good trailer, but it did have weak running gear as HR are known for. I had to have one axle replaced in Canada on our way back from Alaska and the other axle replaced as soon as we got home from our 11K mile trip. I also had to have all the bushings replaced. I considered getting heavier axles and 16" wheels, but I decided to sell the 5er and get a good truck camper. I purchased a new 11' 3" Lance camper, which I kept for 10 trouble free years. It made the Alaska trip without a problem.
