I have a stock turbo, 215's injectors, stock plate moved extra far forward. Now which is better choice 14mm or 16mm exahuast housing?

Thanks again for everyones help.

SMOKE IS GOOD!

my suggestion would be a torque plate. the stock plate slid forward is nowhere near as good as a aftermarket plate

I've got a #11 plate and a 16 non wastegated turbo. Piers recommended this set up and I'm very pleased with the overall performance.

I also have the TST #11 plate and the 16 CM2 housing. I have also added 370 HP injectors and will need to upgrade turbos here shortly.
RCMC, If you are happy with the set up you have now, I would put in the #5 plate and a 16 CM2 housing.

can you exactly explain to me why is an aftermarket plate better than a slid forward stock one?
doesn't make any sence to me, power is power even if you don't pay for it. Granted the extream plates will make more power but stock is not bad.

I'm with you My 6 Eats 8s, Stock extra slid is exelent. Maybe someday after it gets tired again I will get a bigger plate.

But I need to know the pros and cons of having a 14mm wastegated vs. 16mm non-wastegated. My pyro gets over the magic number 1250 deg. (My limit) when under full throttle in 4th tc lock. I havent pulled our 24' stock trailer yet and would not want to get to high.

I have looked at TST and they say 16mm but I wonder what kind of spool time I would be looking at compaired to 14, I'm getting Confused (Short trip) #ad

Thanks for everyones help

How about this explanation. If you move a stock plate forward, you're increasing the bottom end fuel. Now that's ok if you regulate EGT with the right foot, but more fuel at lower RPM raises EGT a bunch.

If you pick the right aftermarket plate, they just improve the low end a little & increase the top end a bunch. That way, you won't get too much fuel at lower rpm & get too hot.

If there is no load or towing, slide away & just watch things. I've seen lot's of EGT at the lower rpm ranges while towing & lots of low end fuel. #ad
